Despite being out of date it is still on display where it was painted at the Yale-Peabody Museum—and is appropriately dinosaurian in size: Over 14ft tall and over 114ft long. Among these arguments are the following: Growth rate. On the evolution and adaptive signifiance of postnatal growth rates in the terrestrial vertebrates. Stegosaurus’ tail spikes were likely used for defense. This suggests adaptations other than a specific feeding mode lead to very large body size.
